An overview of the lecture on “The Need for Reforms in Islamic Banking and Finance, and Delineating a Global Islamic Financial Policy”

Introduction:

Islamic Economics Association at the Faculty of Shariah and Islamic Studies, Kuwait University is continuously conducting various types of events and lectures to promote Islamic Finance framework, strategies and standards. In regard to that the lecture on “The Need for Reforms in Islamic Banking and Finance, and Delineating a Global Islamic Financial Policy” was held on 30 December 2021. Dr. Mohammad Mohiuddin, the Moderator of the session started the session and briefly introduced the Association and the speaker to all participants. The speaker Prof. Humayun dar addressed the background of the topic of the lecture at the beginning and mentioned the content of the lecture. Then the lecturer discussed the need for reform in Islamic banking and finance.

Objectives:

The objectives of the lecture are:

  1. to highlight some improper actions and activities in Islamic banks.  
  2. to address the risks and problems in Islamic financial transactions. 
  3. to discuss the mismanagement in IBF.
  4. to discuss the need for reform in IBF. 
  5. to discuss some ways of solution for the reformation.

Discussions:

Prof. Humayun Dar greeted all the participants and welcomed them to the discussion, then he discussed the following matters:

  1. Improper actions and activities in Islamic banks.  
  2. The risks and problems in Islamic financial transactions. 
  3. The mismanagement in IBF.
  4. The need for reform in IBF. 
  5. Some ways of solution for the reformation.
